Letter sent do PM Narendra Modi for the development of Varanasi Bunkars & other artisans.
To,
Shri Narendra Modi
Prime Minister of India
New Delhi,
Respected Sir,
As it was in news that our government is likely to call global
investment summit soon, may invite about hundred countries. If it is so,
then at the same time an international trade fair should also be
organized in Varanasi to promote local weavers & other artisans from
nearby districts. So that foreign traders can also visit there &
weavers can be benefitted. So many weavers are so poor that they would
not be able to buy stalls in such trade fairs, so they should be taken
care of to let them reach the fair.
Government should provide
laptops & data card for net connectivity to the poor weavers to let
them reach global market. One common b2b Web portal should be developed
by the govt. where all the weavers can display their products along
with their contact details. Whenever they’ll get any enquiry on
website, they’ll get sms on their mobile & could immediately contact
to the buyer. Govt. should also promote this website to help the
weavers to reach global market & expose their products to the world.
It would be great if it could be done before the trade fair in
Varanasi.
Sir, the silk saree which is being sold in Rs.
15000/- bunkar gets only Rs. 1500/- for his weeks of labour to make one
saree. Bunkar’s Union should be established to fix the prices & to
save them from exploitation by the retailers.
In Kankani
village near Jodhpur, cotton & goat-hair carpet weavers also
suffering the same way, even though their carpets are durable for
lifetime but still no value of their art. The story is same of all the
artisans around the nation. Artisan’s sons don’t want to be artisan.
Such rare & precious art in villages is dying.
Govt.
should initiate to establish ‘deshi haat’ type chain of Stores
throughout India of all types of handmade products to save & build
their future and to give them right price of their hard work. Purchase
department will have to reach artisans in deep villages to bring their
art to the market. So that people in South India can buy handmade items
of North & people in north can also easily get such products of
south in right price.
The same store should also be launched
online to sell those items worldwide. This step would not only prove as
life-saving oxygen to these artisans but will also create lots of jobs
in managing these stores and would also generate revenue for the govt.
Such desi haat stores would be very helpful to promote our tourism
industry & the tourists would also be great customers of these
stores. So to improve the tourism, along with the development of tourism
attraction places, it is also important to work on those factors which
distract tourists. There are many rickshaw/taxi and hotel scams going
on, many tourists looted on name of fake holy men. Help centers for
tourists should be established. Beggars problem is also a big one for
tourists which needed to be addressed.
Sir, if our govt. work
on these little things, then we believe that it would be proved a great
help in the development of not only artisans but also our nation as
well.
Thanks & Regards
