Our Letter to Govt. suggesting a unique solution that will not only bring out the poor farmers from their miserable conditions but also will bring a revolution in the agriculture sector of India.

To,
The Hon’ble Prime Minister,
Government of India,
New Delhi

Subject - Suggestion for a new innovative measure to improve the agri-sector in India.

Respected Sir,
It has been the tyranny of a country like India that two lac farmers have committed suicide since 1997, where more than 60% population are dependent on agriculture only. This only leads to fast increase in poverty and more number of deaths due to hunger, which is already 25 lac per year!! This alarming situation is going to increase only, if necessary & effective measure will not be taken in time.

Sensing the terrific situation we all are heading towards, we have come up with an effective solution to this problem. This will not only improve the condition of poor farmers but will also help in increasing GDP ratio of agriculture contribution and will be beneficial in so many other ways.
Right now farmers have land but due to lack of sufficient resources and poor economic conditions they can’t fully utilize their land for good productivity. Even in this hi-tech era they are still ploughing land with oxen, not only this, in Vidarbha village people are ploughing their field themselves in place of oxen, which is the most shameful situation for the whole nation. They are working very hard by taking loans, that too on the risk of uncertainties of climate, low productivity, low market value of their food grains and there are lots of such factors that are killing our agriculture industry day by day. So, if the right steps would not be taken now, then days are not far when we all will be facing the most drastic situation of the century.

For this we suggest to implement a new concept of Contract Farming, that will not only help to improve the economic condition of farmers but will also utilize the resources in the best way ever till now. Under this scheme a separate government department will be formed. This department will take land of the poor farmers on contract (lease) for 3 years to do farming on its own and will employee the farmers of same village on contractual Govt. jobs to work in the fields, and their salaries will be paid as per the 6th Pay Commission. This contract for land will be renewed in every 3 years and can be extended upto 5 years to 10 years as per farmer’s wish. Secondly, to manage the overall farming, this department will also appoint experienced farmers having good knowledge on practical grounds in the management along with the people with good qualification in agriculture, ignoring their educational qualification exclusively.

Since, farmers cannot utilize their land with all the required resources, so this department will use the latest techniques, machineries, fertilizers and all the required resources to take the maximum benefit of our national wealth of farmers.

Benefits to the Farmer
1. They will get a fixed amount every year for their land given on lease.
2. They will get employment with fixed monthly salaries for their work in the fields. This way those farmers who don’t have their own land can also get employment.
3. This will make them completely free from the climatic & other risks. No need to take loans and to think of suicide anymore.
4. Will have sound financial condition to let their children give proper education & build their future.
5. Poverty will be reduced substantially.

Benefits to the nation
1. Optimum utilization of under-utilized resources (both land and manpower).
2. Will create huge employment opportunities both for educated & qualified people, and poor uneducated farmers in the agriculture sector.
3. Will decrease poverty in villages and will attract poor people living in slums in the cities to return to their villages.
4. Will increase the productivity and hence agri contribution in the GDP.
5. Will check on increasing price of commodities.
6. Will boost agri based industries.
7. Will bring development in the villages.

Along with this care should be taken to provide employment to one or two farmers from each house in the village and their land taken on lease should not be utilized for any purpose other than agriculture.

Sir, India can become a super power only when we will have happy and prosperous farmers and have our base strong, which is only agriculture. I am sure you will surely consider the above suggestions to bring revolution in the agriculture industry in India.
Thanks & Regards
